Unnati, a first of its kind initiative of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka aims to provide a comprehensive entrepreneurship platform for startups. The program aims to identify technology innovations by entrepreneurs from the economically weaker section of the society. The idea of this program is to cater to the end to end requirements of a startup i.e. from identifying the innovation, validating it, providing seed capital and eventually giving them the market access.
Unnati as a program further gets bifurcated into streams, namely
1. Technology Innovations: It looks to identify any startup that has a technology intervention to it. The prerequisite however would be that the founder or the co founder(should hold a substantial share) regardless of the type of company (One person company, Partnership, Limited liability company) should belong to the SC/ST community
2. Innovations with Social impact: The program also looks to identify companies which are working on products/solutions that have a social impact. Applications here will be open to all as the impact of such product/solution will have a larger outreach. Unnati looks to support companies that are working on finding a solution to problems that are plaguing both the Government and society at large. Participants will be selected on the basis of the potential impact, feasibility, sustainability, accessibility and novelty of the idea proposed as well as the execution capacity
The Department of Social Welfare throws open a challenge highlighting the problems which it believes needs an immediate and a sustainable solution. A startup having a solution/product which can act as an aid to this pertinent problem, not only an opportunity will be provided to pilot and test this solution but also a seed fund of upto Rs.50lakhs will be provided to build the product
